    So, Lance and I were playing Ante 5 just the other day because we have so much testosterone that playing Magic without is a waste of time.

    In any event, we stumbled upon a rather shitty interaction that the new Worldwake card, Theda Adel (or something like that - It's the 1UU 2/2 Islandwalker that steals Artifacts from the opponents' deck.). With repeat attacks from this card, you can essentially remove all Jeweled Birds from a person's library. I personally think this is rEdiculous and rather unfair.

    This, might I add, is far worse than a Grinning Totem interaction that received so much discussion.

    In any event, I was hoping to obtain everyone else's opinion on the matter.

    Pretty much, Lance or I would concede if Theda was to attack for a second time. It is that lame.

    Agreed, but it's a creature. It's much easier to deal with than grinning totem. Honestly, even if it weren't for jeweled bird, you'd probably be losing hard if he hit more than twice.

    Totem can also get contract if you want.

    In my opinion, Totem should be restricted, this guy is fair.

    I hate functionality errata, but changing the text on bird to:

    Put Jeweled Bird into the ante if you own ~this~. If you do, put all other cards you own in the ante into your graveyard, then draw a card.

    fixes the whole "problem".

    Jeweled bird already has functional errata... not that big of a deal. I say do it. And by the way... jeweled bird only gets one card you own from the ante.

    I agree. It would resolve any issuesthat come forth with Grinning Totem, Acquire, and any of those other "theft" cards.

    Ah, right. I copied the oracle wording. Same idea though.

    I'd probably rather change the text to more closely match the oracle text:

    T: Put Jeweled Bird into the ante if you own Jeweled Bird. If you do, put a card other than this Jeweled Bird in the ante into its owner's graveyard, then draw a card.

    There's another change too here. There's only one ante zone, each player doesn't have their own ante zone.

    Cant believe you errated the bird because of Theda Adel

    Contract is 100x more powerful then Theda Adel but looks what gets errata.

    I thought this was the format where broken things happen, so deal with it?

    It's not just because of Theda Adel, but also because of all the other artifact possession cards. I errated this for the same reason darkpact is banned: We don't tolerate stealing. Stealing isn't broken, it's stealing.

    Zombor is 100% right. Contract is Broken, sure, but Grinning Totem, Theda, and other cards like that ruin the idea of playng for Ante. It isn't hardly a game of loss or win if you simply steal your opponent's shit and use it as yours.

    I'm all for broken plays, ridiculous combos, and playing with Falling Star, but not even having the full on chance at winning something that isn't mine in a game of 5 is hardly what I call "fun."

    I'm sure of it. It's really scary that people like him at one point thought they knew what was "best" for a format that they never really understood.

    Heh there's a reason both sides of the format is dead. Not my fault you guys are oblivious. I use to play with x4 contract a long time ago its redonkulous and unfun.

    I'm not here to argue that point because obviously you guys disagree.
